This year we've seen Australian politics borrow heavily from the States - think of the antagonistic and divisive party political standoff and the involvement of political partners (Margie Abbott's speech in defence of her husband). Australian politics has become personal. This was probably the most powerful moment in Australian politics this year. The political media contingent got it wrong when they consigned Julia's speech to the scrap heap only for it to blow up on Australia's social media networks.
What do you think of this speech by Julia Gillard?
